Mr. Vin Mineo- works as an information computer specialist for the Town of Hempstead since 1978. He has served as First Communion coordinator since 1997 and is the recipient of the Pope Pius X award from the diocese. He was a catechist at his previous parish in St. Vincent’s in Elmont where he met Fr. Jerry Ringenback, former pastor of Saint Bernard's. He moved to Levittown in 1980. As a catechist, he taught various grades. When Linda Crozier resigned her position as Coordinator, Vin accepted the role in 1998 as Coordinator for Level One and Two Communion. He envisions his role as liaison between the catechists and director. He prepares handouts and communication with the younger parents regarding first communion prep, maintains religious education records and attendance registers, secures the building before and after classes and assists with the First Eucharist Masses. He serves as an Eucharistic minister at the 9:00am Mass and in 2015 was elected as the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, a fraternal service organization. He was proud to announce the knights have sponsored seminarians in the past, helped raise over $10,000.00 for St. Bernard’s , recognized our altar servers, cooked for our parish “block party”, and currently preparing for the youth Halloween party and food drive. Vin says St. Bernards’ is his “home away from home” and loves his job as coordinator.
