Parish Social Ministry is a partnership between Catholic Charities and St. Bernard’s faith community.  The ministry is rooted in the gifts of the people of God, enabling those within the parish community to serve and support those in need

Our office provides:

  • Direct Service through our pantry which provides food and other basic needs of living to help those who live within our parish boundaries to stretch their income.
  • Convening bereavement support groups and the Charitable KIDZ.
  • Offering direction to those who might be entitled to benefits such as SNAP (food stamps), HEAP (assistance with energy costs), Social Security, Child Care, etc. We work closely with the Nassau County Department of Social Services to learn about these programs and who is entitled to receive the benefits.
  • Advocacy in speaking out for the vulnerable in society in an effort to move beyond charity to justice.
  • Collaboration with parish and neighborhood organizations to maximize available assistance to those in need.
  • Education and information-sharing in the office and through our parish bulletin.

The office and pantry are located in the Clairvaux House (next to the church)

The Food Pantry is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 1pm. Please call us to schedule an appointment (516) 731-6074 or email  us This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
